EDUCATE, TOUR, OR VOLUNTEER

We invite our community, educators and schools to contact us to schedule field trips or work at our host farms on science projects. You can participate in school projects, field trips, farm tours or volunteering.

We are a local nonprofit organization and we value being part of the local community. We hope to create the next generation of locavores by educating children on sustainable practices and the principles of permaculture:

Take Care of the Earth | Take Care of People | Share the Surplus

THE AQUAPONICS SYSTEM

One of the current location for education and tours is GYO GREENS Aquaponics farm located in the heart of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Address: 147 Canal Boulevard, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082

This farm uses a sustainable farming method called Aquaponics which combines traditional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals - in our case, fish - in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. All produce is grown naturally using standard organic practices.

List of educational topics:

  • Aquaponics System Basic Principles

  • Water Parameters and Chemistry

  • Pest Management

  • Sustainable and Green Practices

  • Water Conservation

  • Nutrition and Healthy Eating

The education program is only for those students wanting to complement their STEM curriculum with projects at the farm.

Commercial aquaponics training is not available.
